Toshi's laboratory develops new making, sensing and eliminating instruments using applied electrostatics. We use various kinds of multiple electrodes to produce corona and/or arc discharges. "Multiple Electrode Engineering & Technology : MEET " is the slogan of our lab including the meaning of " MEET the needs"
Research Activities
We have 4-8 Graduate students and 4-5 under graduate students each year. All graduate and undergraduate students have different projects. They spend 1 - 3 year in the lab for daily basis. The projects are categorized into three different aspects.
Electrostatic forces are applied to stapling sheet materials, handling small particles, deforming liquid coatings and so on.
Electrostatic potential measurement along with corona charging can sense surface resistivity and volume resistivity of target materials without touching the surface.
New electrostatic charge elimination system are proposed.
